Urgent 3D printing in Barcelona: what 24 hours can actually do

Which parts genuinely fit into a one-day turnaround, what makes it impossible, and how to order in a hurry without paying double or getting it wrong.

Rush in 3D printing does not work the way it does in a print shop. There is no faster machine waiting for you to pay more: there is a printer that takes however many hours your part takes. What urgency buys is a place in the queue, not speed. Understanding that is what makes a rush order work.

What fits into a day

  • One part, or a few identical ones, that fit in your hand or thereabouts. Below about six machine hours there is room; above it, the clock decides.
  • In PLA or PETG, black, white or grey: the materials and colours always on the shelf.
  • At standard or draft layer height. Dropping to 0.12 mm can double the time on the same part.
  • With no finishing. Sanding and paint need curing and drying time, and paying more does not speed that up.
  • Collected at the workshop. If it also has to travel, the day is gone before it starts.

What makes it impossible

  1. 1Size. A part that fills half the build plate is fifteen or twenty hours of machine time. There is no shortcut: you cannot print half a part and run with the rest.
  2. 2A material or colour not in stock. If it has to come from the supplier, the clock starts when it arrives, and that is days, not hours.
  3. 3Resin. Beyond printing there is washing and curing, and that process takes what it takes.
  4. 4A file with problems. If the mesh is broken or the units are wrong, everything stops until it is sorted — and at nine at night there is nobody to ask.
  5. 5Ordering late. A part confirmed at five in the afternoon has the night of machine time ahead of it; one confirmed at nine at night starts tomorrow.

How to order in a hurry and get it right

Send the file even if it is not finalised. Seeing it is what makes it possible to say within five minutes whether it fits the deadline, and often there is a solution you had not considered: splitting the part so both halves run in parallel, raising the layer to 0.28 mm on something nobody will look at closely, or printing in a colour that is on the shelf rather than the one you asked for. None of those calls can be made from a description over the phone.

Do you do same-day 3D printing in Barcelona?

For small parts, in stock material, confirmed in the morning, sometimes yes, with collection at the workshop late in the day. It is not a service that can be promised in advance because it depends on what is on the machines that day: ask with the file to hand and we tell you whether it is possible before you pay.

How much more does a rush order cost?

Rush carries a surcharge you see in the configurator when picking the lead time, proportional to the order. What it does not do is change the price of the part itself: material and hours are the same, what you pay for is priority in the queue.

What if the rush part comes out wrong?

That is the real risk of rushing, and it is why a conservative configuration pays: familiar material, standard layer, no finishing. A printing fault gets reprinted, but reprinting consumes again the hours you do not have. On a tight deadline, the safe option beats the optimal one.
