3D printed letters and signage in Barcelona

Dimensional letters, logos and custom signage, printed in Barcelona. Sizes, indoor and outdoor materials, painted finishes and how they mount.

A printed dimensional letter costs what the plastic and the machine time cost, and nothing else: no die, no minimum order, no tooling to amortise. That changes the maths entirely when you need one particular typeface, one particular colour, or simply seven letters rather than a hundred.

What size and what depth

The bed is 256 × 256 mm, so a letter fits whole up to roughly 250 mm tall. Above that it is split into two or three pieces with an interlocking joint and bonded; done properly the seam is invisible from a metre away. Typical depth is 15 to 25 mm for indoors: below 10 mm a letter stops reading as dimensional and looks like a thick sticker.

How they mount

  • Double-sided tape: the usual indoors. We ask for a flat, sanded back so it grips.
  • Hidden screw: we leave a blind hole in the back with a brass insert. Nothing shows from the front.
  • Standoffs: the letter sits about 20 mm off the wall and casts a shadow. The best-looking mount for a reception area.
  • On a shared base: several letters on one printed strip, for event tables where you cannot drill.

What we need from you

An SVG or vector PDF of the text with the typeface already converted to outlines is ideal: the STL comes straight from it. If all you have is the font name and the wording, say so with the order and we will set it up, provided the font licence allows it. A JPG of a logo is not enough: it has to be re-vectorised, and that is modelling work.

What is the maximum size for one letter?

256 mm a side in one piece. Above that the letter is split along a straight section and bonded, which also lets the parts print in parallel and shortens the lead time. A sign several metres wide is perfectly feasible.

Will a printed sign survive on a facade?

In PETG, years. In PLA, months: ultraviolet turns it brittle and it eventually cracks on its own, however perfect it looks on installation day. For outdoors we recommend PETG and, if colour matters, a UV-filtering paint over it.

Can you make backlit letters?

Yes, and it is one of the most requested options. The letter is delivered already designed with the housing for the LED strip and the right face thickness to diffuse; your installer does the wiring. Say so when ordering, because a backlit letter and a solid one are not the same part.

What file do you need for my logo?

A vector file: SVG, AI, EPS or a PDF with curves. That is where the outline for the extrusion comes from. A JPG or PNG will not do directly because they have no outline, only pixels; they must be vectorised first and that is separate work.

Where it works well

  • Dimensional letters for indoors: shops, offices, trade stands, weddings
  • Raised logos, in the exact brand colour
  • Door and office signage, with numbers and pictograms
  • Custom or unusual typefaces no supplier stocks
  • A single replacement letter for a sign that has lost one

Where it stops

  • Assembled illuminated signs. We can print the housing and the diffuser; the electrical work is not ours.
  • Letters over 250 mm in one piece. They get split and bonded, with the joint hidden on an edge.
  • Outdoors in PLA. A PLA letter on a south-facing façade will sag through a Barcelona summer.
  • Public-highway approval. We certify neither wind nor fire resistance.
